Salclear Ski is a powerful sports antifog, defog and ski goggles demist fluid designed to cope with the worst that mountain weather and skiing can throw at it.
Very cold climatic temperatures combined with high humidity make this the worst environment for your sports eyewear to fog up. Salclear Ski copes where nearly all others fail**
Ski goggle lenses tend to be made from polycarbonate , cellulose triester, or poly methyl methacrylate (Perspex), so you need to select an antimist which functions on plastics as well as glass..something most manufacturers of antifogs fail to take into consideration.
These materials are difficult to 'wet', and hence are difficult to stop fogging. Most commercial antifogs are safe to use on polycarbonate, but not all can be used with acrylic or cellulose ester resins. Salclear products are safe for all plastics.

We ran comparative tests on Salclear Ski against a variety of products available in the industry, by comparing the resistance to fogging of various lenses
We looked at various different types of plastic lens including polycarbonate and toughened glass, yet Salclear Ski came on top throughout.
Remarkably some of the products recommended on the market for this application were completely ineffectual in our harsh humidity test.
Salclear lives up to its name. |
Vented goggles or twin/double layered lenses are no match for a quality antifog. Plus, fogging usually occurs when the skier is stationary, and thats when air flow in vented goggles is worst!
Factory coated antifog goggles are mildly effective but are orders of magnitude less efficient than Salclear Ski, and through natural wear and tear, these soft coatings eventually erode and become useless.
Salclear cleans and prevents fogging of your goggles or ski sunglasses in one shot. So its one thing less to worry about when you hands are full with poles, ski pass, gloves, glasses, bumbag, sunblock, hat.. and the kids to worry about too.
Cleaning

An additional consideration is that Salclear Ski is a balanced cleaning fluid too. It can be used to clean and maintain all your hardware after a days skiing. Boots, skis, boards, goggles, the lot....you can even use it to remove dirt and stains from your ski suit!
Salclear Ski can be conveniently spray applied to any moving parts of boots, skis, board buckles, or other ski equipment and wiped with a soft dry cloth. That's all that is required. Simple, easy to use, efficient, and a necessity for any bum-bag or boot bag.
* - advisory caution . The antifog coating applied to any ski goggle during the manufacturing process of the lens is not permanent, in that over time especially when exposed to high levels of humidity or worse still water, rain and snow - the coating washes away or is lost through ageing. Cleaning the interior of the lens can accelerate this, yet every ski goggle needs to be cleaned periodically.
Salclear Ski is especially useful and intended for use on uncoated ski goggles and especially those with uncoated mono lenses or twin walled uncoated goggles. Most goggles these days have ventilation systems which are only marginally effective.
We do not generally recommend that Salclear Ski be used on brand new manufacturer coated antifog lenses as it can in a limited number of cases cause the antifog coating to soften, and whilst this is not detrimental to the integrity of the lens it can spoil the look and in some cases tarnish the lens . In all the lab tests that we ran with Salclear Ski on factory antifog coated goggles, our product improved the performance, without any adverse reaction with the pre coated lenses. Please consult the goggle manufacturers instructions first before using Salclear.
** - our standard antifog test involves immersing goggle lenses in steam from a boiling water source AND putting cold goggles from a fridge into a warm humid environment. Very few commercially available products pass these tests. Factory coated antifog goggles are very poor under these test conditions.
